Church Plans 5K Race to Raise Money for Missionaries Worldwide

Sussex Village Park will soon become home to Life Church's Amazing Race 5K, and all the proceeds are slated to help fund missionaries worldwide. The registration deadline is May 6, so unpack those running shoes for a good cause.

Looking for a reason to get in shape for summer? Look no further, as a new 5K race is being introduced to Sussex with proceeds going to a very worthy cause.

Life Church, a non-traditional parish based out of Germantown, is movings its annual Amazing Race 5K to on Sunday, May 20 in order to accommodate its congregation of more than 2,200 people.

Kevin Ganiere, a representative with Life Church, says the Village Park is the perfect space considering they recently opened up another location.

"We've done it at Germantown's Kinderberg Park up the street from our Germantown campus for five years," Ganiere said. "But last year we started another campus at the Marcus Majestic Theater, and Sussex seemed like a great spot in between."

Life Church organizes the race as a fundraiser for missionaries around the world. Since its creation in 2000, the church has raised more than $1 million to help fund missions, and its hoping to contribute even more with the race in Sussex. Wether you decide to run, walk, bike, rollerblade or even skateboard, Life Church is happy to accept all participants.

All of the proceeds from the 5K race will go to the Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge and Speed the Light. Those two groups do things like help people rescued from India's red light district.
