About Andy
Bio
Andy Ambrosius grew up in West De Pere, Wisconsin, a suburb just outside of Green Bay. His interest in journalism started during his junior year of high school when his favorite teacher suggested majoring in broadcast journalism. The idea of using his skills in English to become the next Charlie Gibson sounded enticing, so Andy decided to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for journalism with a specialty in broadcast. After interning at UWM, Milwaukee Public Radio and WISN-TV, Andy was offered a job at the television station. During this time, Andy also freelance reported for Patch.com in Milwaukee's North Shore communities. Eventually, the new frontier of online media excited Andy enough to leave dreams of becoming Charlie Gibson in the dust. With a position open at Patch in Sussex, Andy finally realized it was all meant to be.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.
Politics
While every journalist says they are impartial and unbiased, I honestly have an enormously difficult time choosing a candidate each election. I find something I like about each candidate regardless of his or her political party. I don’t associate myself with either the Republican or Democratic Party.
Local Hot-Button Issues
I’m quite new to the area, but I’ve heard about the changing face of Sussex. The village is growing very quickly, and new development is keeping pace with that.
When a community changes, the way money is spent changes, too. I strongly believe in the type of hyper-localized news Patch offers, meaning it’s my duty to show residents where their tax dollars are going, how the village is developing and why.
However, Patch isn’t only about the traditional “hard-news.” I’ll also be showing the best of Sussex through features on community programs, events and inspiring people.

Hey Andy.
A large part of Patch's new mission is aggregation. We're not to withhold news from our readers simply because another publication beat us to the punch. The Sussex Sun did a great job at covering that article, so I lead my readers to the information.
Under the last four weeks of my editorial supervision, Sussex Patch has seen its highest readership numbers ever, so I believe this new method is working.
Thanks for your comment!
Andy.

I'm confused. I clicked on a Patch link to get more information about the proposed Piggly Wiggly remodeling and to see a photo or artist's rendering of same, and the link took me directly to a Sussex Sun article. Hmmm. Really?! When I was editor of this Patch I produced my own news and feature stories.
