UPDATE: Templeton Competes in Regional Robotics Tournament
Middle schools in the region gathered at Waukesha South High School to compete with food and robots in a First LEGO League tournament.
Students working in the Junior Robotics program at formed three teams Saturday and competed in the First LEGO League regional tournament.
The LEGO League is a worldwide competition. The regional event in Wisconsin drew 34 teams to Waukesha South High School to complete a series of tasks. Judges then hand out awards to the top teams, advancing them to the state tournament on Dec. 11.
"We will have three teams competing at this year’s regional where the theme is Food Factor. Each team had to complete three tasks," said Chelsea Cerwin, a Templeton paraprofessional. "First, researching a problem surrounding the contamination or spoiling of a food, and finding an innovative solution. Second, build and program a robot to complete tasks on a playing field. Finally, each team will be judged on their ability to work as a team and show respect toward each other."

During the day-long competition, students created art boards with information on their topic, competed in a Robot Wars match, and event took the to main stage where their creations were projected on huge screens.
The 12 awards, ranging from best robot programming to best teamwork, were announced on Sunday. Here are the winners:
