Blackwell is one of 100 students to receive the Herb Kohl Excellence Scholarship, which recognizes student leadership, citizenship, school-community involvement and academic achievement. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship to pursue post-secondary education.

There were 175 graduating high school students to receive the award this year and 100 teachers were also recipients of the foundation’s fellows awards.

Blackwell and other winners from school districts within CESA No. 1 will be honored at a luncheon wuth U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl on March 31 at Riverside University High School in Milwaukee.

Since it was established in 1990, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation has awarded $7.8 million to Wisconsin students, teachers and schools.
