Hamilton Offering ACT Prep Course for Seniors

The school is offering new after-school classes for seniors this month in order to raise ACT scores and prep students for the future.

is offering new after-school ACT preparation classes this month to help seniors prepare for the rigorous college entrance exam.  It’s is all a part of the school’s plan to raise the number of students who take the ACT exam. 

The school’s principal, Candis Mongan, said the class will first be offered to seniors, and then it will be extended to juniors later in November. 

were the second highest the school has ever seen, the average score equaling 23.6. However, only 73 percent of the graduating class — 220 students — took the exam.

The number of advanced placement courses offered at Hamilton and exams taken by students is increasing dramatically each year.  During this academic school year, 34 sections were offered at Hamilton, two more than last year.  Plus, during the 2010-11 school year, 398 AP exams were taken, nearly 200 more than five years ago.
