Sussex's Week Ahead: Baseball, Budgets and a 5K

Check out what's going on this week in the village of Sussex.

It has only been my first week in Sussex as your new editor, and I can already see what an exciting community experience I’m going to have here. Interesting new businesses are emerging, community events are frequent and the people are friendly and fascinating.

That being said, here are some events I’m excited to share with you this week on Sussex Patch.

5k Run/Walk

Saturday morning is about fun and giving back to the community.  It’s Sussex’s 5k Run/Walk starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Lion’s Open Air Pavilion at . All proceeds from registration are going to the recreation scholarship fund. Make sure to register as soon as possible to receive your official T-shirt.

School Board Meeting

The Hamilton School District will have a school board meeting on Monday at 7:30 p.m. This will be a regular meeting open to the public, and people interested in learning about the actions of the district are encouraged to come.

Budget Workshop

The Sussex Village Board will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Village Hall for a budget workshop. The board will hammer out and possibly act on the 2012 village budget. This meeting is open to the public, so residents curious to see where their tax money is going should come see the process.

Baseball & the Library

Professor and historian Stephen Hauser will speak at the Tuesday at 7 p.m.  Hauser will explain the history of baseball in Milwaukee without all the statistics, so everyone will enjoy his story America's pasttime.  He will be speaking in the library's Quad/Graphics room, and best of all, this is a free event.
