Quad/Graphics Looking to Expand in Sussex

The company plans to open a new storage facility at old Huffy Sports warehouse.

Quad/Graphics Inc. wants to use the old Huffy Sports warehouse on South Corporate Circle near Lisbon and Pewaukee roads for additional paper storage, a move that would be welcomed by village officials.

Troy Dolan, a representative from the printing company, spoke with the Sussex Plan Commission Thursday about using half of the almost 200,000-square-foot building.

“The property will be a warehouse for our paper department,” Dolan said. “We will have anywhere between two and four employees. It’ll still be a 24/7 operation.”

The company will be storing paper rolls and equipment in the warehouse, and the fire inspector has already cleared the building for Quad/Graphics’ usage.

Also, considering Quad’s small staffing plan of four employees, the commission members laughed when realizing there are 224 available parking spaces for the warehouse.

The commission backed the proposal, which needs to come back for final approval in October.
