Garbage Diver Learns to Think Twice

Monday, April 9 at 9:54 a.m.
Police were called to the apartment complex on the W239N5900 bock of Maple Avenue after someone reported a man dumpster diving on private property. A 24-year-old Colgate man was cited for violating a village ordinance regarding dumpster diving mostly because this isn’t the first time he’s done it. Apparently the man is on probation and has not only been warned, but also issued a citation on the same issue in the past.

Lucky She Didn’t Lose a Finger

Monday, April 9 at 11:34 p.m.
Emergency medical personnel were called to Quad/Graphics on Monday night after a teenage worker had a semi-serious industrial accident. While working a 19-year-old Milwaukee woman caught two of her fingers in a machine causing deep lacerations. She could still move her fingers, but was transferred to Froedtert Hospital for treatment. How the actual accident occurred is still under investigation.

Use It or Lose It

Wednesday, April 11 at 2:18 p.m.
Owners at on Main Street called police after noticing six of their wood skids were missing from the back of the building. They said they hadn’t checked the behind the business in a week, so the burglary honestly could have happened any time between April 4 -11. The owner said the skids are valued between $150 and $200.

Keeping Cigarettes Away from Sussex Teens

Wednesday, April 11 at 6:03 p.m.
A citation was issued at at the corner of Main Street and Silver Spring Drive Wednesday evening after the business failed a tobacco compliance check. In other words, police had an underage citizen go into the liquor store to buy cigarettes, and employees sold them without checking for proper identification. Deputies at the scene issued the business a citation.

Man Beats Woman While Driving

Monday, April 16 at 6:20 p.m.
Police were called to the corner of Waukesha Avenue and Clover Drive after a 27-year-old man began beating up a woman while driving down the street. Michael Davis of Milwaukee was taken into custody and booked for one felony count of substantial battery.

Police met with the victim, a 45-year-old Milwaukee woman, who was bleeding from her lower lip. She told police she was driving down the street when Davis began yelling and punching her from the passenger seat. The woman required medical treatment.
