George Webb's Crowned Best Breakfast Joint in Town

You voted and Patch listened. George Webb Restaurant is named the best place to snag breakfast in Sussex.

After a hot debate between and , the poll results are in, and the people picked Webb's.

of the astounding 241 votes, George Webb's stole the show, getting almost double the amount of votes as top competitor M&M. However, the results made a few Patch readers a bit confused.

"I have a feeling the people voting for George Webb's have never eaten at M&M, it is literally a homemade meal," . "Don't get me wrong, George Webb's is great at 2.30 am - For a good wholesome breakfast - M&M is where it's at!! :)"

"WHAT??? George Webb is winning?" added Sofia Reino. "Wow...I am with Kristi, people must not have gone to M&M."

But with some commenters saying M&M used to be "gross" and too smokey, it's clear local customers are remaining loyal to Webb's.

I do not get this comment: "But with some commenters saying M&M used to be "gross" and too smokey, it's clear local customers are remaining loyal to Webb's. " As Webb's is pretty new to Sussex. Since we have moved here (4 years ago) I never noticed M&M being smokey and gross. It is a diner type... It is not new, but gross?

It was mentioned in the Poll article that someone who was there 6 years ago stated it was smokey. But since smoking is no longer allowed in restaurants and bars, I'm sure that helps. I just wish a local area restaurant would have won - to me it kind of feels like someone saying McDonalds or Culvers is the best lunch/dinner option in Sussex. Hope people start venturing out to other places, we have some great restaurants in this town! Explore fellow Sussex-ians :)

I agree - you can't even smoke in there anymore, so it should be fine now. And that was just one comment -- there were so many saying positive things about M&M, so I needed to balance it with the one comment from a person who said it was gross. Her words, not mine! And RIGHT?! A locally owned, non-chain restaurant winning would have been way cooler. Sorry Webb's, but it's true!

I think M&M not winning should be some sort of sin against man...whats wrong with people? I remember going there back in the day and always having the best breakfast ever. Although I don't live in Sussex anymore, I still put M&M up there for the best breakfast, even though there are some great spots here in Milwaukee but nothing can compare to a nice little place like the M&M.

Update: I just got word from Dan Mueller, the owner of Webb's, and he said to think twice about the restaurant. He was born and raised in Sussex, so we shouldn't assume it isn't a "locally owned business." Our mistake!

I've lived in Sussex for over 20 years.....M&M has always been the place to go. Webbs is always a mainstay anywhere they are located and their food is great too, but anyone who has lived in the Sussex area forever, who doesn't own their own restaurant, will tell you that M&M is place to be.
