“The event is really going to be more of a community-focused event,” Waltz said. “It’ll be a way to bring people together to have a great time, get something to eat and learn about SOS and all the things we do… We just want to strengthen the bonds between residents and SOS as much as possible.”

The event will be kicked off at Sussex Village Park at noon, and for two hours families can visit a huge array of fun activities donated by local businesses and churches like TaDa Salon, Marcileno’s Pizzeria, Oakbrook Church and even Sussex Patch.

“We’ve been working on painting and updating SOS to make the inside look nice to show everyone, and that was all volunteer based,” Waltz said. “We’ve had volunteers from Grace Lutheran Church, a couple clients have helped, and another gentleman just offered to mow our lawn. I don’t think a lot of people know that the tiniest help means so much. I certainly didn’t think about some of these small things like cleaning and mowing when I took the job,” Waltz laughed.

So mark your calendars, come out and enjoy the best of Sussex for a good cause.
