Boys, Girls Controlling Greater Metro Hoops

Both the boys and girls basketball teams sport an unblemished conference record with the season winding down.

The Sussex Hamilton Chargers boys basketball team continued its winning ways Tuesday against Brookfield East.

The Chargers continue to cruise as leaders of the pack in the Greater Metro Conference and hold a perfect 9-0 record so far this season. The Chargers are 16-1 overall, and have won two in a row since losing by a basket to Wisconsin Lutheran last week.

The Chargers defeated Brookfield East Tuesday 53-43 at home, and they were led in scoring once again by Brady Ellingson who dropped 22, according to Wissports.net. Sussex is currently ranked fourth in the state, according to the latest polls published Jan. 29.

Ellingson has led the team all year scoring 23.8 points per game and hitting 60 baskets from beyond the arc, according to Wissports.net.

The Chargers have five games remaining in the season, and they travel to Wauwatosa East with tipoff at 7 p.m. Friday.

A Mirror Season

The girls basketball team lengthened its winning streak as well Tuesday against Brookfield East on the road.

They defeated the Spartans 56-42 on the road Tuesday and are on a seven game winning streak. The girls are 9-0 in Greater Metro Conference play, and are 16-1 overall. They are ranked third in the state, according to ranking released Jan. 29.

Mackenzie Latt, who is averaging 19.9 points per game this year, according to Wissports.net, leads the Chargers this season.

The girls will host Wauwatosa East at 7 p.m. Friday.Β
