Woodside Students and Willy Wonka

Woodside fourth- and fifth-grade students used creativity, innovation and collaboration to prepare for their musical based on the book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl.

fourth- and fifth-grade students used creativity, innovation and collaboration to prepare for their musical based on the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. Students collaborated as they choreographed a class dance, and several students helped prepare costumes and props. The opening number features numerous student-created props that look like massive pieces of candy. This musical’s interweaving of music, drama, dance, visual arts and student literature is one example of arts integration that takes place at various grade levels throughout the year at Woodside. Heather Cheslock is the music teacher at Woodside.
