Village Board Approves New Stop Signs

Intersections will see safety upgrades after residents raise safety concerns.

Two Sussex intersections will receive stop signs and stop bars.

The Village Board gave unanimous approval Tuesday to installing stop signs and stop bars at the Candlewick Drive and Salem Drive intersection and the Ivy Avenue and Kneiske Drive intersection due to concerns about safety.

Stop bars are white lines painted on roadways to increases visibility of the stop for drivers. Residents in both neighborhoods had expressed concerns over safety at those intersections.

The village’s Public Works Committee recently backed the idea of installing of stop bars into an annual roadwork plan.

The board also approved putting out a bid to install speed tables near the Ivy and Pewaukee Road intersection because of concerns with speed in that area, and the installation of no parking signs in the roundabout on Stonefield Drive because some residents have been parking within it.
