Gallant to Step Down Tuesday

Long-time trustee says increased demands at work make it difficult to attend meetings.

Trustee Fred Gallant is stepping down from the Village Board.

Gallant said Monday he is resigning because his job is taking him out of the area more often and is impeding his ability to attend meetings.

“I don’t like to miss meetings,” he said. “But I think (Village President) Greg (Goetz) is doing a great job.”

Gallant said is resigning from the board now so a replacement can be put in place in time to go through the 2012 budget process.

Gallant, who works for Fox Valley Metrology, has served more than 10 years on the board. He initially served from 1996 to 2006 and was elected to the board again in 2010. His resignation will be taken up at the village board meeting Tuesday, and is effective immediately.

The candidate appointed to Gallant's trustee position will serve out the remainder of his term, which ends in April 2012.
