Sussex Residence Burglarized By Homeowner's Brother

The man admitted to the crime in a letter to the victim and his wife, according to a complaint.

A Milwaukee man is charged with ransacking and burglarizing his brother’s Sussex residence back in April, stealing thousands of dollars of electronics and valuables.

The incident was discovered when a friend of the victim — who was on vacation at the time — went to feed a pet and found the house in complete disarray.

The 48-year-old man is charged with felony burglary. Among the stolen items were:

  • the victim’s checkbook
  • a safe with a passport and earrings
  • two TVs
  • two DirectTV receivers
  • two DVD players
  • a stereo receiver

According to the complaint, the man had recently admitted to relapsing in a cocaine addiction. The complaint also says he wrote a letter to the victim and his wife taking responsibility for the crime.

His initial appearance in Waukesha County Circuit Court is July 1.
