Missing Vehicle Leads to Drug Charge for Sussex Woman

A Sussex woman who was being investigated for stealing her mother’s vehicle faces a drug paraphernalia possession charge instead, according to a criminal complaint.

Kayla M. Eddy, 23, was charged Friday and faces up 25 months in jail and a $500 fine if convicted because she has past drug offenses. She also faces a possible driver’s license suspension between six months and two years.

According to the criminal complaint:

Eddy’s mother reported on Feb. 20 that Eddy took her vehicle on Feb. 17. While Eddy had taken her mother’s vehicle in the past, Eddy would always return it within a few days. Since the car was missing for several days, Eddy’s mother told a Waukesha County deputy she wanted to report the vehicle stolen.

When a deputy made contact with Eddy at her mother’s home, she was pounding on the outside door Feb. 21. The deputy talked with Eddy and located needles, copper wool, a spoon and other items in her purse.

Eddy told the deputy she has a drug problem and she used the drug paraphernalia to inject Percocet.
