Suspect in Associated Bank Robbery Still At Large

FBI has been called in to investigate incident, but nobody was injured and no money apparently was taken.

Authorities are still searching for a man who attempted to rob the in Sussex on Saturday morning and then fled on foot, the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said Sunday.

A spokesman for the department declined to give more information on the case, saying the investigation is "vigorous and ongoing."

However, a report released Sunday by the City of Waukesha Police Department did provide some more details on the robbery attempt.

β€” an hour before the bank at Main Street and Silver Spring Drive opened. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s who as about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a beard, and wearing all black clothing, according to the report.

The suspect, who was also wearing a black mask over his face, was carrying a knife and a handgun, the report said.

Employees who were there at the time stayed in a vault in the back of the room. The suspect fled on foot, but dropped the knife near the vault before he left the bank, the report said.

Patch's media partners at FOX6 News report that the FBI has been called to assist in the investigation. FOX6 also says it doesn't appear any money was taken in the robbery attempt.

This isn’t the first time Sussex’s Associated Bank has been targeted. Two local men were for attempting to rob the bank in March.
