Obituary: Vernon A. Lemke

Vern drove truck for years before working for Halquist Stone for 32 years. Upon his retirement, Vern and June spent many happy summers at their cottage at Three Lakes.

March 27, 1929 - May 22, 2013

Vernon A. Lemke, 84, of Lannon, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Beloved husband of June (Nee Fischer).  Loving father of Dawn (Scott) Chapman and Michael Lemke.  Dear grandfather of Jessica (Jason) Moffett and Ryan Chapman.  Great grandfather of Zoe and Vash Moffett.  Brother of Arnold (Margaret) Lemke.  Further survived by other relatives and friends.Vernon was born on March 27, 1929 in Oconto Falls, WI. to Arnold and Rosa Edna (Fredrich) Lemke. 

He grew up in Lannon, WI. and graduated from Menomonee Falls High School on May 29, 1947.  Vernon went into the army April of 1951 and spent his duty time in Korea being discharged on March 24, 1953.

He married June Fischer on October 24, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lannon.  They have had 59 plus years of marriage together.  Vern drove truck for years before working for Halquist Stone for 32 years.  Upon his retirement, Vern and June spent many happy summers at their cottage at Three Lakes, WI., where he enjoyed woodworking with Jerry Hansen and fishing with many friends and relatives for crappies and Fourth of July fish fry’s. 

Vern and June also enjoyed the many vacation trips with friends and relatives. He also enjoyed making wine.A special thank you to St. John’s friends for their kindness.  Also to Horizon Hospice and Kathy Hospice in these last days.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday May 27 at St. John's Lutheran Church 20813 Forest View Dr., Lannon. A Funeral Service follows at 1 p.m.  Burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Lannon.In lieu of flowers, memorials to St John's Lutheran Church of Lannon would be appreciated.
