The Week Ahead: Downtown Plans Previewed; Circus Fun at the Library and More

Here's a quick look at what's happening in Sussex and the surrounding area in the week ahead.

What's on tap in Sussex this week? Well, for starters, it's not going to be a hot as it was last week.

Last week, we had four days in which the high temperatures in Sussex topped 90 degrees, including Wednesday when the high was 98 degrees, according to AccuWeather.com.

This week, AccuWeather.com says we're going to get some relief as the highs will be in the 80s every day. It looks like Thursday and Friday will be the hottest days of week - as temps both days are expected to hit 88 degrees.

Here's some other highlights of the week ahead in Sussex and the surrounding area this week:

Say farewell to the fair: If you haven't made it out to the yet, Sunday is your last day to do so. The 169th annual fair runs through 9 p.m., and if you show up before 1 p.m., you can get in for $5. Sunday's main stage act is the legendary Beach Boys.

Fall into Falls Fest: And if you don't want to head to the county fairgrounds on Sunday, there's always Falls Fest at in Menomonee Falls. Sunday is also the final day for that festival, which features live music, family entertainment, great food and more.

A circus in your hometown: There's always something special for kids going on on Mondays at the and this week it's the . The special show, which is free and open to children of all ages, starts at 1 p.m. in the Quad Graphics Room of the library.

Weigh in on downtown plans: Sussex officials have big plans for the and they're inviting residents to share their views on those plans at a public hearing set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at . If you're really, really interested in read the plan (all 92 pages of it), you can find it here. Otherwise, village officials can give you the Cliff Notes version on Tuesday.

Busy night for Village Board: Immediately after Tuesday's public hearing, the Village Board will meet and could take action on those downtown plans. The board also is going to review plans for the proposed condominiums off Highway 164.

What's in store for Village Park? It looks like downtown Sussex isn't the only place that's getting a makeover, as the village is also working on a master plan for Village Park.Β The village is holding an open house from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the to let residents take a look at the plans and get their questions answered.
