Personalized Brick Marriage Proposal at the Pauline Haass Library

Can you think of anything sweeter than proposing to someone by having the question written a brick? That can either turn really sweet or really sour depending on the answer. 

Luckily in the case of a brick outside of the Pauline Haass Library it turned out to be a sweet gesture with a "yes" answer. 

Pauline Haass Library Director Kathy Kleger explained how people are able to buy a brick for $110 that lays right outside the library entrance.

Some people buy bricks in remembrance of love ones, for birthdays, anniversaries or just for fun. 

The bricks are a sort of library fundraiser. 

Patch tried to get a picture of the sweet proposal that Kleger spoke about but unfortunately it was deep under a snow bank. 

Since 1995 the library has raised more than $30,000 by selling personalized bricks which are installed near the building entrance. The bricks are a way for people to help the library in a highly visible way while generating additional revenue for materials (books, movies, magazines, etc.). 

Bricks are installed annually, usually in the late summer or early fall, but they can be purchased at any time during the year.
