Fun in the Sun: New Themed Day Camps Start Monday
Kids will love to get wild and wacky, play carnival games, explore the world of animals and insects, and play games.
This summer there will be new summer day camps for children ages 6 to 10 at the Lion’s Building in on W244N6067 Weaver Drive, through the Sussex Parks & Recreation department.
The week-long camps, which begin on Monday, will provide kids the opportunity to play games, make crafts and explore.
Each week has specific them, including: wild and wacky; world cultures; oceans; a carnival; farm life; holidays; backyard bugs; safety; and sports games.

All of the camps will be led by a teacher, with two college students serving as camp counselors.
So far the most popular camp is “Fun at the Carnival,” where the kids will have their very own carnival with food like funnel cakes, corn dogs, caramel apples, plus midway games like “Go Fishing," “Duck Pond," and “Pop the Balloon."

Amy Jeske, director of recreational services, hopes to have 10 to 15 kids in each camp.
“It’s a good idea for kids to participate in summer activities like these to keep them occupied while still learning. Each week will have different crafts and activities, so kids can sign up for one week or all nine,” she said.
The program runs through Aug. 19.
