Man Faces $10,000 Fine for Stealing $11 Item from Shopko

The Milwaukee man only had $10 for the $11 bottle of conditioner he wanted.

A 25-year-old South Milwaukee man is facing charges after he was caught shoplifting from a Sussex department store.

Jeremy J. Gasiorowski was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of retail theft. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Jan. 6, security officers at Shopko saw Gasiorowski walk into the store with a shopping cart and Kohl’s shopping bag, place a bottle of Crew conditioner in the cart and walk around the store. After awhile, he abandoned the cart and bag, and tried to conceal the bottle of conditioner in his jacket sleeve.

Gasiorowski then walked out of the store with the bottle and was confronted by the security officers. Although he had $10 with him, Gasiorowski told them the product cost $11.49 and he knew he didn’t have enough to pay for it so he decided to steal it.

It should be noted that Gasiorowski has been charged with nine counts of theft and posession of THC in 2008.

He will make his initial appearance in court March 26.

He could have gotten four bottles of the Suave brand for $10.

Or saved the gas money from South Milwaukee to Sussex and bought two bottles of the Crew brand down there.
