ReplyI would think that Meijer's site selection and development team has surveyed the area to see if the area would be able to support a store before they commit to any type of investment in a new store. Competition is good and I would rather see a "Big Box" store that an empty field or more small retail spaces that just remain empty.

ReplyThat seems like a great spot for a store like Meijer. I have been a major critic of the Village board, but this actually makes sense. If Meijers site survey and maketing teams think this is a viable location for a store we should welcome them with open arms. I understand some of the opposition ( I am sure most of the opposition was spawned by Pick n Save) But if Sussex is ever going to shake the "small town dead zone" image this is a good start.

ReplyFinally headed to the Land of Liberalism! Good for you! After reading your opinions thats just where you belong! But since the Patch is just another liberal arm of AOL/Huffington Post I guess I should not expect the next editor to be any different. I think when we finish the fence on the border with Mexico the next one should be on the Wisconsin/Illinois border to keep you Liberals in IL with Emanual and Obama!

ReplyObviously the age old resentment toward Sussex is alive and well in Lisbon. I have lived in the village for almost 40 years and the absolute distain Lisbon residents have toward Sussex has not changed one bit. The people have spoken, drop the whole idea and Lisbon fend for themselves, they asked for it!

ReplyThis just shows the interest in the Sussex parks. So why are we spending millions of dollars to make over the parks? If people don't even show up for a meeting. I guess the parks don't have any "friends".

ReplyDid anyone from the Village administration explain where the money for this "white elephant" project is coming from? Or did they do their normal "smoke and mirrors" explaination, with no explaination of costs of upkeep after the millions of $ are spent. We don't keep the parks in very good shape now so let's spend more money we don't have and let the new ammenities fall in disrepair a year or teo after completion.

ReplyLet Lisbon deal with their own problems. The has always been a strong hatred of Sussex by Lisbon residence, so why should Sussex take on their problems now! we have our own issues to deal with. I am sure this is all about expanding the tax base but that also comes with duplication in layers of government and that will be difficult to eliminate. Just let the chip fall where they will!

ReplyTime to hire someone who is NOT a spend crazy liberal, That projects budgets 50 years into the future! Residency requirement is good because then that person would be paying into the tax base they would be spending, but the main requirement should be common sense.

Probably because it would be too close to the Woodman's store in the Falls and they are building a new store at the old Span Crete sight in Waukesha.
