Bad judgement-probably filming it was. Suspending the players who simulated sex acts with a garbage can is definetely over-reacting. I understand that athletes are held to a higher standard than non-athletes, but suspending them for acting silly seems like we are tripping them up instead of pointing out their errors. Community service or let the coach handle his players and the problem internally-not letting outsiders and administrators get involved and blow it all out of proportion. One suggested rule, if it's not already one, is that no recording devices or cell phones with cameras should be allowed in a locker room area for obvious reasons.

Cuts are needed, and no one likes taxes, and yes we need accountability. What needs to be remembered is that we have a superior school system and we have superior educators and this doesn't come cheap-nor should it. Cutting the budget is great, but let's not sacrifice our children's future ability to survive in the high tech world we are living in. Everybody should step back, go to a school board meeting, and take a harder look at what we are throwing away in order to save some cash. Jim Brady's comment on looking west to see what our system could sink to is all too real. Let's try a little harder to hold up our current level of excellence!

Turning your lights on is a show of community support in a situation where other than pray for Noah and his family, there is little else we can do in this situation right now. To combat this feeling of helplessness among the community, a light up the night project is a chance to show that the community is aware of the plight of this child and that we care and are united in the hope for his recovery. No, a light off only means that people might not be aware of the project. If the family sees the lights on and gets even a little encouragement, or if it raises awareness of this boy's fight for life and his upcoming struggle with rehabilitation, then for the easy flick of a switch and a silent prayer-my light will be on for Noah.

Nature's Bin would be a great addition to this area. Based in Lakewood, this store features natural and health foods that appeal to a wide variety of people. The store is run by employees with special needs and the store serves as their training ground to empower them to move on to other challenges. They are a non-profit organization and would serve our community as a great retail outlet and an even better place to help out a special group of our population.

First of all, even comparing this "person" to the Jews who were exterminated in the Holacust is sickening. The Jews were and are persecuted for their religious beliefs, they are not standing in a doorway holding a bloody baby, next to a battered wife, and an automatic assault rifle in reach. The Jews were victims-not abusers, to try and make this individual a victim is wrong.
Second, the reason the nationality was mentioned was because the police are going to see if any citizenship issues are relevant. Without mentioning that he was Hispanic, the reader wouldn't understand why the police were checking into this point. The legality of this person IS a police issue and they would be not doing their job if they didn't check out his background-regardless of race.
As for discussing this further-go ahead. I might suggest using your time in a better manner-donate some time to a battered womens shelter, raise some money to benefit that liitle baby so he can live a better life(if he lives), or maybe just get down on your knees and be thankful that you are not in their shoes and that nobody else got hurt or killed before the police were able to get him in custody.

This "father" is holding a bleeding two month old and someone is concerned about stereotyping? The police had every right to shoot this scumbag, he had a loaded automatic rifle and was a real threat to everyone. Credit the police for acting as professionals, don't bring up an insane argument about being pc!

Zilka is a common sense individual who knows how to get things done. Comparing him to another elected official in Washington is unfair and wrong. Mr. Zilka will get my vote for mayor !

First of all, I'm not a fan of personal attacks-"Bucky" sounds trustworthy to me. Second, Bucky is an Avon Lake resident who has been here longer than myself or most residents and I think his financial interests rate at least equal to a cell company. I would like to see this dead zone fixed, but not at the expense of an Avon Lake resident. I think further study is warranted for locations on both sides of the border.

Improve it but don't move it. We should not rob one area of town to fill a hole in another part of town. Instead of letting an area go down-let's try to build it up.
