Snow Totals Near Sussex Higher Than Expected

Portions of Rock County report 6.5 inches of fresh snow from Monday's storm.

Although just 3 to 5 inches of snow was predicted in Monday's storm, communities surrounding Sussex experienced that much and then some. According to information issued by the National Weather Service in Milwaukee-Sullivan, a trained weather spotter in Merton reported 4.5 inches of new snow there, while an employee of the weather service who lives in Hartland also reported 4.5 inches. However, a broadcast media observer reported 5.7 inches of new snow at Holy Hill, which is visible from the hills surrounding Sussex, and a trained weather spotter in West Bend reported 6 inches of fresh snow on the ground. Rock County was hit with the heaviest reported amounts of snow, in the 6.5 to 7 inch range, according to the National Weather Service.
