Battle With Girlfriend's Ex Turns Bloody, Police Say

A man was charged with substantial battery after punching his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, who was waiting in her apartment.

A criminal charge has been filed in a chance meeting fueled by bad blood, which left one man bloodied during an October 2012 quarrel in Lannon. Shane Riley, 35, was charged last week with one count of substantial battery after he beat up his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. He could be imprisoned up to 3-1/2 years and face up to $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Oct. 5, police were dispatched to the 21000 block of Outcropping Court in Lannon to assist Jeffrey Kopp, who had just been punched in the face. Stolen Cell Phone Sent to Sussex Woman Who Now Faces Charges

The 21-year-old woman told a New Berlin police officer she found a cell phone stolen during a burglary in her mailbox.

A Sussex woman is accused of receiving a stolen cell phone that was taken during a burglary to a New Berlin cell phone store in October. Jamie C. Lupo, 21, was charged Wednesday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with receiving stolen property. If convicted, she faces up to nine months in jail and $10,000 in fines. New Berlin police officers were called to the store in October after an employee noticed $118 was missing from the cash box. They reviewed security footage and saw a person take the cash from the cash box and two cell phones from the back storage rooms, according to the criminal complaint. The manager suspected Lupo, who still had a key to the business despite no longer showing up for work. However, Lupo was not the person in the …

A Waukesha man who told a deputy his vehicle was swerving while driving through Sussex because he was “having sex” with his passenger, according to a criminal complaint. Paul R. Nemeth, 24, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Monday with attempted possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle while revoked. If convicted, he faces more than 3-1/2 years in prison because of a past felony offense. According to the complaint: Nemeth was pulled over on Clover Drive in Sussex at 2:13 a.m. Saturday. A Sussex man allegedly argued face to face in the streets with another driver in Waukesha, and could pay heavily for drinking the night prior.

A night of drinking came back to haunt a Sussex man, who police say was involved in a fit of road rage in Waukesha that led to his fifth OWI charge. Eric R. Schmidt, 33, of Sussex, was charged Thursday with disorderly conduct and a fifth offense for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration, which is a felony. He faces up to $11,000 and six years imprisonment for the offenses. Former Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez pleaded not guilty Monday morning to disorderly conduct after police say he beat his fiancee Sept. 18 after getting into an argument because she believed he was cheating on her, according to court documents. Rodriguez, 30, of Coral Springs, FL, faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines if convicted of the misdemeanor. He returns to court Dec. 13 for a hearing. A City of Brookfield engineering project manager is facing charges after he allegedly strangled his wife and held police officers at bay from inside his Sussex home after a night of drinking last week. John Laning, 40, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with domestic abuse strangulation and suffocation, false imprisonment, battery and two counts of felony intimidation of a victim. If convicted, he faces up to 33 years in prison and $80,000 in fines. A 41-year-old Brookfield man is facing felony charges after he allegedly called his wife at work, and threatened to come in and shoot her and burn down their house.  When police officers responded to the man's home in the 18700 block of Anita Court, they found 19 guns and rifles, as well as marijuana. Allen R. Hyde was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of possession of a firearm while intoxicated; one count of telephone harassment; one count of possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana; and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Heroin Overdose: Trial Set for Reckless Homicide of Sussex Woman

The man allegedly sold the heroin that eventually killed her and is facing reckless homicide charges.

After pleading not guilty in February, the Milwaukee man facing charges for selling heroin that lead to the overdose death of a Sussex woman is about to get his trial. Donald Ray Brown, 46, will face a 12-person jury on Nov. 13 in Waukesha County Circuit Court to deterimine his fate. The trial is expected to last up to four days.  This comes after Brown, who is still in custody, unsuccessfully attempted to have his reckless homicide charges dismissed in early February. He later pleaded not guilty and has made a string of court appearances ever since.  Brown is facing 40 years in prison after he was charged with one count of first-degree reckless homicide for allegedly selling heroin to Patricia K.
