Sussex Week Ahead: Election Day and Village Park Meeting

From the big election day to Sounds of Sussex, another Village Park construction meeting and the Lions' Piston & Rod Show, this is a list of places to be this week in Sussex.

The Sussex Hamilton Athletic Booster Club is meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at Hamilton High School to talk over new and continuing projects they've been working on, like the new score boards. The Sussex Hamilton Athletic Booster Club, a not for profit organization, provides financial support through monies raised by volunteers to promote excellence in athletic programs and the Sussex community. Tuesday is election day where Sussex-area voters will cast their ballot to vote on everything from a new Waukesha County Clerk to a new Register of Deeds. FAIL: Sussex a No-Show to New Friends of Parks Meeting

Nobody shows up to Sussex’s attempt to start a volunteer group responsible for a farmers market.

The Sussex Recreation Department’s attempt to spark interest in a new Friends of Sussex Parks and Recreation group is now put on hold after nobody showed up to the first meeting. Sussex officials organized a gathering Monday night at 6 p.m. at Village Park for anyone interested in joining the group, or even for those wanting more information on the organization. The group would be responsible for starting a Sussex farmers market and fundraising for the Village Park reconstruction project, among other things. “We didn’t have anyone show up,” said Parks & Rec Director Amy Flaherty. “Because with me leaving (for Key West), I didn’t promote it a ton. Just because I use the parks and consider myself a friend of the parks does not mean I have time to coordinate a farmers market. I already volunteer a lot of my time to the village in other areas and take Pete's comment to heart.
