With the heavy snow falling, car accidents are piling up on Milwaukee's freeways.
It's pretty obvious it's snowing out there, so if you plan on getting out and diving tonight, especially on the freeways, make sure to check our interactive traffic map first. It reports things like backups and accidents so you can avoid them. In general, the Waukesha County Communications Center says things in Sussex have been pretty quiet so far. "There haven't been any reports of power outages, and so far there haven't been any accidents reported," a representative at the WCC said. "It looks more like the southern half of the county is getting hit harder. There have been more car accidents reported." Also, if you have plans tonight, check out Fox6's list of closings throughout the area. Groups like Oakbrook Church have already called in…

Traffic could be busiest on Sunday, as gun deer season comes to a close.
A few significant road construction projects present the promise of slower traffic over the busy Thanksgiving weekend. Be prepared in order to make the best of it. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, here are some of the more significant projects that could impact the trip to grandma’s house: Those who are staying in Milwaukee in order to bring Black Friday to its knees should note these two sticky spots: Weather should not slow you much, as highs are expected mostly in the 50s in southeastern Wisconsin, with chances of just light rain. More challenging could be the expected heavy traffic on Sunday, when the gun deer season also wraps up and hunters are on their way home. Highways should be slightly more congested this…

More than 660,000 people expected to travel in Wisconsin over the Labor Day weekend, slightly fewer than last year. But convergence of sporting events and holiday could make Thursday as hairy as any on the roads.
Wisconsin’s Labor Day weekend has an extra day this year, at least from the standpoint of action on the roads. But weather is expected to be great, road construction is limited and gas prices are not expected to spike, so there are plenty of positive factors if you plan to be out and about. Thursday features the Brewers at Miller Park against the rival St. Louis Cardinals at 3 p.m., a Green Bay Packers preseason game at Lambeau Field at 7 p.m. and the Wisconsin Badgers’ first football game of the year vs. UNLV, in Madison and also at 7 p.m. Combine that action with families pulling out of town that evening for their Labor Day getaway — or hurtling up from Illinois for a weekend “Up North” — and the state’s major thoroughfares could be …

Refinery problem in Illinois could increase local gas prices by 40 cents per gallon for a short time.
Don’t look now, but Wisconsin gas prices, particularly in the southeastern part of the state, may be on the rise – as much as 40 cents per gallon - as the Memorial Day weekend approaches. This time it has nothing to do with factors like volatility in the Middle East. The source of the problem is much closer, across the border in Illinois. “Midwest gas prices are likely headed up in the coming days due to problems at a refinery in Joliet, Illinois,” said Pam Moen, spokeswoman for AAA Wisconsin. “Wholesale gasoline prices in the Chicago market have risen about 40 cents since Friday. We will likely see those increases reflected in retail prices in the coming days.” Now for the good news. The refinery issue should be resolved within a few days…
