Between bouncy castles, snow cones and a scavenger hunt, Sussex Outreach Services' first annual Family Fun Day is giving residents a way to kick off the summer with the whole family.
Supporting the area’s most famous volunteer organization doesn’t always have to mean collecting canned goods or sorting through Christmas presents, and come June 3, you’ll know just what we mean. Sussex-Area Outreach Services is proud to announce its First Annual Free Family Fun Day at Sussex Village Park. Between noon and 4 p.m., area residents are invited to show support to SOS by simply having a good time. Jennifer Waltz, SOS’ director, has rounded up an enormous amount of family entertainment with all proceeds going toward the organization’s mission. Between face painting, a bouncy-house, food and more, Waltz is excited to teach people more about SOS in a fun way. “The event is really going to be more of a community-focused event,” …

After getting a grant from the Hamilton Education Foundation (HEF) to form the Bulldog Club, members of the Templeton Middle School extracurricular mentoring program are passing it back. Once again this spring, Bulldog Club members designed, built and donated a bench to HEF for its annual auction-dinner fundraiser. The foundation awarded the initial grant to start the Bulldog Club in 2006 to provide students with positive role models, encourage appropriate social skills, build on student interests and strengths and engage students hands-on activities at the end of the school day. One of the students’ favorite projects has been to create a beautiful bench for the auction so that the students also give to their school and community.

Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County is seeking help to continue operating programs that bring meals to seniors.
The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County has some real needs for volunteers, and Volunteer Program Coordinator Chris Rodriguez is hoping that some area residents will step forward. Volunteers help set up the meals, serve the food and clean up after the meals. They also pack up lunches for seniors at their homes. The drivers then take the meals to the homes. Many of the seniors are able to stay in their homes because of the home-delivered meal program. “This program has been going on for a very long time,” Rodriguez said. “I’ve been here 23 …
