What's Going On With Sussex Meijer Development?

The development of the Sussex Meijer store is one step closer but still has to jump through more approvals and permitting processes.

The Meijer development in Sussex is one step closer after a resolution was reached between Sussex and Lisbon over a certified survey map outlining property boundaries, reported the Sussex Sun. The Schelling family, Sussex and Lisbon reached an agreement earlier this month that CSM would outline only those properties owned by Meijer that are now located in Sussex.  Meijer is proposing to build a 191,000-square-foot, 24-hour, mixed grocery store and retail center on the site. The plans also include construction of a gas station. This is one of the final approvals needed for store, proposed at Highways 164 and K (Lisbon Road). Lisbon Families Challenging Meijer Construction

Lisbon families are thinking about challenging the Sussex Meijer construction in court because it violates a border agreement between the two municipalities.

Three Lisbon families might challenge the construction of 200,000-square-foot Meijer because their lawyer says it violates a border agreement between the Village of Sussex and the Town of Lisbon, reported the Sussex Sun. Town of Lisbon officials told the Sussex Sun that they were staying out of the controversy because it would be a waste of time. The Lisbon Town attorney told officials that they could delay the construction but at the end of the day it was going to get approved.  Joseph Cincotta, attorney for the Lisbon families, said that he and his clients have not looked at options for a possible court fight. Apparently you misunderstood my last post. I do not want any services cut to my village. I was stating that cutting the parks would not be economically appropriate for the future of the village. I stated that Historically Police and Fire were the first to get cut. I at no time implied that parks are more important than protective services, or the safety of the people of this village.
