Walker Wins Sussex with 74 Percent of Vote

With almost the exact same for level of support Gov. Scott Walker as in 2010, the Village of Sussex has spoken as residents overwhelmingly choose to keep Walker in office.

It looks like residents in Sussex cannot be swayed as Gov. Scott Walker pulled in 74 percent of the votes during Tuesday’s election, the exact same amount he snagged when running against Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in 2010. Sussex Village Clerk Sue Freiheit reports there were 6,996 registered voters in Sussex, and after a total of 5,392 residents cast a ballot, the village saw more than an 77 percent turnout at the polls. What's more is that Sussex officials registered almost 550 new voters on election day alone. Fewer than 4,700 residents voted in the 2010 gubernatorial election. Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch Thankful for Tea Party Express' Endorsement

The lieutenant governor, who faces a recall election in about two weeks, stood shoulder to shoulder with Amy Kremer, Chairman of the Tea Party Express, at a press conference Monday, May 21.

State Firefighters Union President Announces Candidacy For Lt. Governor

Mahlon Mitchell, a 15-year veteran of the Madison Fire Department and current president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, will run as a Democrat in recall election.

Mahlon Mitchell, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, announced Monday that he is running for lieutenant governor in the recall election against incumbent Rebecca Kleefisch. A 15-year veteran of the Madison Fire Department, Mitchell lives in Fitchburg. "I’m running because Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch have destroyed and divided Wisconsin by catering to corporate special interests instead of the workingmen and women of this state," Mitchell said on his website. "Now, we need to bring our state back together and work to create the jobs tens of thousands of Wisconsinites need." Last year, when Gov. Scott Walker proposed a law that stripped most public employees of their ability to collectively bargain, Mahlon led …
