President Barack Obama has won Wisconsin, considered by political pundits as a major swing state that would go a long way in deciding the 2012 presidential election. Obama was declared the state’s projected winner over Gov. Mitt Romney. Obama and running mate Joe Biden overcame the popularity uptick Romney undoubtedly received when he announced Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan of Janesville as his vice presidential candidate this summer. With the victory, Obama picked up 10 important electoral votes toward the 270 required to win the presidency. Days before the election, Republican vice presidential candidate and 1st District congressman will visit Memorial Hall.
Updated at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday to include details of Obama visit Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will visit Racine on Wednesday afternoon. Billed as a victory rally from the Romney-Ryan campaign, Ryan is slated to visit Memorial Hall at 2:15 p.m. with a mix of state and national GOP names. Tickets are free, but registration is required by visiting the campaign's website. Doors open at 12:15, and the program is scheduled to begin at 2:15 p.m. Residents will be subject to airport-style security as they enter the hall. The Obama/Biden campaign announced today that the vice president will visit the UW-Parkside campus Friday in Kenosha.
Vice President Joe Biden will make two appearances in Wisconsin Friday, including a stop at UW-Parkside in Kenosha. The Obama/Biden campaign made the announcement Tuesday. First, Biden will visit UW-Oshkosh and then he'll make his way south to Parkside. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. at the DeSimone Gymnasium at the Sports & Activity Center on the Parkside campus. Waukesha was the epicenter of the state and national political scene Saturday as Democratic and Republican candidates and their surrogates visited the city to encourage volunteers to make the final push for votes in the Nov. 6 election. Patch's political insiders from both parties have plenty to say about Vice President Joe Biden's performance in Thursday night's debate against U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan.
When Patch asked Wisconsin political insiders who won Thursday night's debate between Republican Paul Ryan and Democratic Vice President Joe Biden, the responses were pretty much what one would expect. More than 86 percent of the Republicans who responded to Patch's post-debate survey declared Ryan the winner, while all of the 36 Democrats who answered called it for Biden. So, while they didn't see eye-to-eye on the outcome of the debate, they did agree on thing: That Biden pretty much stole the show. When asked the open-ended question of what was the most memorable moment of the debate, more than two-thirds of the respondents of both parties had something to say about Biden.
