Independence Day Celebrations Set for July 3

Menomonee Falls tradition expected to draw crowd of 20,000 to 30,000

Ready your lawn chairs and patriotic garb; the single-largest annual public gathering in Menomonee Falls is less than one week away. Organizers expect a crowd of 20,000 to 30,000 at this year’s Independence Day celebration, which kicks off with the parade at 7 p.m. Sunday. “We’re really looking forward to it,” said Robyn Turtenwald, a member of the village’s Parade Steering Committee. “It’s going to be a great parade.” This year’s procession will begin at the intersection of Appleton Avenue and Elm Lane and will feature 90 to 100 units — floats, performers and caravans. Menomonee Falls Area Food Pantry Receives a $10,000 Donation

Donation from Emmanuel Community United Methodist Church pushes food pantry closer to its goal of raising $200,000.

The Menomonee Falls Area Food Pantry on Tuesday received a $10,000 donation from Emmanuel Community United Methodist Church. The church’s donation pushes the total funds raised for the pantry’s new facility to $120,000. Organizers have a goal of raising $200,000 to cover construction costs, as well as increased utilities costs associated with the their new building. The church’s $10,374.97 donation (to be exact) is a big step toward their goal, but $80,000 remain — and organizers are in dire need to reach their fund-raising goal. “Our deadline to raise the $200,000 was yesterday,” Board Member Julie Loth figuratively stated. Each year, the Menomonee Falls Little League holds a food drive and collects donations. Last year they collected over 1800 food items and raised $500 for the food pantry. Their event this year is Saturday, June 25th at the Complex.   more ›
