Sussex President Greg Goetz says the village will foot the bill for the ice cream at National Night Out next year after some people complained the 25 cent fee was uncalled for.

The annual National Night Out and Ice Cream Social at Weyer Park Wednesday night was a huge success, with hundreds of area neighbors coming out to enjoy games and treats. The Pauline Haass Public Library sold ice cream and brownies for 25 cents, the Hamilton robotics team showed off their award-winning robot, there were tons of games for children. Sussex to Enjoy Ice Cream & Million-Dollar Construction Talks

The village's National Night Out and ice cream social on Wednesday will also be home to discussions on the Sussex Village Park master plan.

Between enjoying Sussex's annual National Night Out event and the Pauline Hass Library's ice cream social, village residents can learn more about the multi-million dollar renovation project to reconstruct Sussex Village Park. Starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Village Hall’s parking lot, residents will be able to ask any questions they still have about the project. Village officials scheduled the “open house” style meeting during National Night Out and the library’s ice cream social so more people would be available to ask questions. Sussex Week Ahead: National Night Out & Village Park Discussion

Between a gathering regarding the controversial Village Park reconstruction project to the annual National NIght Out, this is a list of places to be and things to do this week in Sussex.

Another public forum has been scheduled for Sussex and Lisbon residents looking for more information on the potential merger for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Held at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center, this meeting will clear up any new or lingering questions residents may have, especially after the board said they may not support the merger.  Community members can enjoy seasonal, fresh produce and hand-crafted items weekly at Market on the Hill – Pewaukee’s Farmers Market – on the Waukesha County Technical College main Pewaukee campus. The market, coordinated by Positively Pewaukee and WCTC, is held Wednesdays through Oct. 24 – rain or shine – from 3 to 6:30 p.m. It is conveniently located at WCTC in Lot 19, next to the Workforce Development Center. …

Sussex Celebrates National Night Out with Library’s Ice Cream Social

Residents of all ages came out to eat ice cream and meet members of the police and fire departments.

Sussex residents celebrated National Night Out Wednesday at Pauline Haass Public Library in conjunction with the Friends of the Library’s ice cream social, which marks the conclusion of the Library's summer reading program. National Night Out events take place across the country this week in an effort to help communities fight back against crime. The Friends of the Pauline Haass Public Library hold the ice cream social annually as a way of thanking the community for supporting the library. Ice cream with brownies, and chocolate syrup were served.

Here's the Scoop: Friends President Named Library's Volunteer of the Year

Janice Gutbrod recognized for work on annual ice cream social, fundraising and other Friends' projects.

Anyone who has ever stopped by the Pauline Haass Public Library’s annual ice cream social has probably seen Janice Gutbrod in action. That's because she and her husband, Ken, play key roles in making sure the annual event is pulled off without a hitch. Because of her work on the social and everything else she is involved in as president of the Friends of the Library group, Gutbrod has been named the library's Volunteer of the Year. Gutbrod, who was recognized at a library luncheon to honor adult volunteers on May 12, said she was “totally surprised” by th award. “I was stunned because there are so many people who volunteer at our library.  I’m pleased to be in the company of the other people who have been so honored,” said Gutbrod.  The …
