Monday, July 23 at 11:30 a.m. A 54-year-old Sussex woman living on the W234N7000 block of Flintlock Drive called police to report a black widow, and not the actual spider. The Sussex woman’s father passed away, and she told police she believed there was foul play. Although the medical examiner’s autopsy was done revealing nothing out of the ordinary, the woman was convinced her step-mother somehow killed her father. Police recorded the tip. Cause of accident at Highway 164 and Lisbon Road remains unknown.
One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident early this morning near Lisbon Road and Highway 164, authorities said. The crash between the car and pickup truck occurred at 5:45 a.m., and both vehicles sustained moderate damage, according to a press release from the Sussex Fire Department. One person was pulled from a car and taken to the hospital. The extent of the victim's injuries are still unknown. Eleven firefighters responded to the call and stayed on the scene for one hour this morning. The crash remains still under investigation.
