Maybe it was something for your children—or for you. What's the best gift you gave or received this Christmas?
As children, it's often all about what they get. The hottest toy, video game or favorite outfit. But sometimes, it's about the gift you can give. Finding the perfect thing for your mom, or your sweetie. Or giving something to someone who really needed the help. Share photos of Christmas morning smiles by uploading one to our gallery, and tell us your stories of great gifts in the comments. Merry Christmas to you and your families from all of us at Patch!

Should you lie through your teeth as long as possible, or 'fess up at the first hint of doubt? Tell us what you think the right time is.
As a child, we can all remember the palpable anticipation the night of Christmas Eve, trying to calm down enough to get some shuteye. The same goes for parents. The time will come, though, when questions arise about how exactly the big jolly guy does it: "So, Santa flies around the world in one night on a sleigh pulled by reindeer, somehow breaks into millions of homes and neatly stashes presents under trees? This joyful season can be a time to remember as well as a time to hope for the future. It is also a time to be grateful for the past year and for our loved ones. We hope that in the midst of the hustle and bustle, and in light of the recent tragedy, everyone will take the opportunity to cherish the family around them…

For Christians, giving gifts is a reminder of the gift of the birth of a savior. Here's how some area residents reflect on the real meaning of Christmas.
With the flurry of presents, cookie baking, parties and time spent with the relatives, it’s easy to forget why we celebrate Christmas. Traditions passed down over the years can sometimes make us forget why Dec. 25 is a special day on the calendar. Christmas used to be a pagan holiday, but the Christians turned it into a holiday to celebrate the birth of Christ. The season of giving, for the Christian faith, is a reminder of the ultimate gift – the birth of a savior who would die for our sins. We give gifts to show our love for our friends and relatives, just as God showed his love through the birth of his son. While not everyone holds to the Christian faith, the holidays have become a time of giving back to others and to reflect on what’s …
