Opponents of plans to pave the recreational trail have strong words for county officials at informational meeting.
While some residents attended the meeting in favor of the Bugline Trail Improvement Project, the overwhelming majority of area resents who came were — in a word — livid. Citizens gathered at the Pauline Haass Public Library in Sussex Thursday evening to meet with Waukesha County parks officials and members of the project’s design team. While there was no formal presentation, about 10 informational boards lined the room outlining specifics about the project, and residents could submit their comments on paper in a comment box. The plan to pave the Bugline Trail hasn’t had its shortage of controversy, and on May 10 supporters and opponents of the plan can voice their opinions at a public information session. Waukesha County staffers and members of the design team for the paving project will be on hand during a public information open house from 5-7 p.m. May 10 at the Pauline Haass Public Library in Sussex. There will not be a formal presentation, but there will be people available to answer questions. The Waukesha County Board of Supervisors approved the $2.4 million project in September as part of the capital improvements plan for the county.
