Good points:
Playground for the kiddies
big field for informal sports
It is near library if you need to get out of the heat
Free outdoor movie night once a month in summer, usually a family kid friendly movie, most recent showing was Cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Near a pretty stream where I have seen beavers on more than one occasion
Benches and picnic tables for parents to sit on and watch kids
Cons:
No shelters or grills. Not sure if you can bring your own grills. Nothing extremely special.
