First thing I thought of when I walked into this restaurant is how it doesn't look like it's been cleaned or refurbished in about 50 years. I instantly was wishing Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsey were there to rip the place apart and reinvent it.
Drop ceilings that are all stained and gross, dark carpet, dark wood, it's like you're walking into a cave.
Food was OK but nothing spectacular.
I love Sussex Inn, great food and the wait staff are always friendly!
Agree with the ratings. This place needs to be cleaned up. If it looks that filthy and smelly in the dining area, what does the kitchen look like? I won't eat there.
The food was good but the place smells like stale smoke. The place needs to be completely updated (needs new carpet, to be painted, new tables, & chairs / booths).
Great fish fry, horrible atmosphere. Feels like you're eating in a dungeon and the tables are right on top of each other. NO privacy for talking.

food good. but as far as the stale smoke, yes it got a quick paint job at the bar part but after 11.pm one can smoke inside the place so they never will get rid ogf that stale smoke smell. yes, as long as "new faces" dont pop in, you can smoke inside. Your old beer bottle is your ashtray
