Sussex Outreach Services Sponsoring 'Family Fun Day'
A new event, the Army Physical Fitness Test, will raise money for SOS through grit and determination.
Volunteers with Sussex Outreach Services are hoping for some nice weather this weekend for their family-friendly fundraiser.
SOS is sponsoring a "Community Fun Day" from noon to 3 p.m. in the Lions Pavilion in Sussex Village Park. The event is free, but participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate. For every two items collected, donors will receive a raffle ticket for a variety of prizes.
The Fun Day includes kids' games, food booths, face painting, fire trucks, and more. Proceeds from a silent auction, food sales, and business sponsors will directly support the SOS and the Sussex Food Pantry.
This year, Power Test Inc. is sponsoring the three-event Army Physical Fitness Test. Each participant earns points for push-ups, sit-ups, and the timed two-mile run. Power Test will make monetary donations based on the total number of points accumulated.
