Sussex Hamilton Clobbers Marquette Hilltoppers, 42-3

Chargers control contest with impressive ground game as Patterson leads the way with five scores.

Sussex Hamilton rolled to a 42-3 victory over the Marquette Hilltoppers in Greater Metro Conference action on Friday night, according to the Sussex Sun

The Chargers dominated the game with a ground attack that chewed up yards and time, accounting for 241 yards on 38 carries, the paper said.

Junior Drew Patterson led the way on the ground, racking up 146 yards on 18 carries and five touchdowns, according to the Sun. Patterson, who has 393 yards in two games, has been the main ball carriers thus far in the young season for the Chargers, the Sussex Sun said.

“That's our offense,” Sussex Hamilton coach John Damato told the newspaper. “Obviously Drew is our workhorse, but we want to get guys multiple touches to get them in the rhythm of the game and go from there.”

Ten other Chargers rushed with the ball during the first conference game for each club.

Sussex Hamilton's next game is at home against Brookfield Central at 7 p.m. Friday.
