Two Sussex Natives Receive Awards from Ripon College

Michelle Matter and Emily Sheeks, juniors at Ripon College, were recognized for their hard work.

Two Sussex residents attending Ripon College were recently honored at the 2012 Awards Convocation, an annual event recognizing student achievement during the academic year.

Michelle Matter, a junior with an undeclared major, was recognized for her membership in the Laurel Society. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregg R. Matter of Sussex.Β The Laurel Society is Ripon College's senior honorary organization, recognizing student achievement in all disciplines.Β 

Emily Sheeks, a junior history major from Sussex, was recognized for three different accomplishments. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven H. Sheeks of Sussex.

Sheeks was honored for her membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest academic honor society. She was also given The Achievement Award in History, which rrecognizes a senior who has shown distinction in the work of the history department. In addition, Sheeks was recognized for her membership in Phi Sigma Iota, an international foreign language honor society.
