Two Hamilton High Seniors Named Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Caroline Hope and Brooke Schounard recognized for their academics and scores.

Hamilton High School seniors Caroline Hope and Brooke Schounard were named in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program, according to the school district.

The students were eligible for the recognition based on results of the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The test was taken by more than 1.5 million students throughout the United States.

Hope and Schounard are semifinalists, will continue in the 2013 competition for Merit Scholarship awards. They are among approximately 16,000 semifinalists nationwide.

Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

Semifinalists, like Hope and Schounard, have an outstanding academic record, were recommended by the school principal and earned SAT scores that confirm the students’ earlier test performance.
