Student's Hard Work Earns Scholarship, Helps School

Not only did Tyler Wischnefski’s talent and hard work reward him with a scholarship for his future studies, but his success has benefited his high school as well.

As a recipient of the 2013 GE STAR Award, Wischnefski was able to nominate a high school teacher to receive a one-time $500 financial award for school purposes. Wischnefski named Hamilton High School mathematics teacher Steve Akin.

A 2013 Hamilton graduate, Wischnefski earned the GE STAR Scholarship this spring. He was chosen through a competitive selection process to defray expenses of higher education. The GE STAR Award, provided by the GE Foundation, is administered by the Institute of International Education, an independent international non–profit educational organization.
