Marcy Students Take on the 'Soup-er Bowl Showdown'

School families collected nearly 900 cans of food to donate to the food pantry.

families collected 892 cans of soup in February to contribute to as part of the school’s "Soup-er Bowl Showdown."

The idea for the friendly competition between lower and upper grades came from Marcy Leaders Now, eight fifth-graders chosen by classroom teachers to work with school counselor Lori Schlapman to plan and promote charitable school activities.

Kindergarten, first and second grades were Team Chicken with Rice and third, fourth and fifth grades were Team Chicken Noodle.

The younger grades won the challenge by merely two cans of soup. Parents, students and teachers rallied to bring in enough soup to fill a minivan.
