Local Schools Take the Stage for Three Upcoming Productions

Mark your calendars for three upcoming performances by three different schools in the Hamilton School District. The youngest students from Woodside are event set to perform Disney's musical, Aladdin.

"Any Number Can Die"

Hamilton High School Drama Department
Performance dates: May 3 - 5 at 7 p.m., and May 6 at 2 p.m.

Any Number Can Die is described as a “A hilarious take off on the mystery plays of the twenties complete with sliding panels, robed figures, wills being read at midnight, etc. Four ingenious murders take place in an island mansion as a pair of elderly detectives set to work on their first case. The ever popular storm, the unexpected guests, the cryptic poem, and the missing fortune all add to the intricate and inventive mystery off which the laughs bounce." This production is set to be performed at the , and is sponsored in part by the Hamilton Education Foundation.

Tickets are either $8 for adults, or $5 for students and seniors.

“The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr.”

Templeton Middle School Chorus
Performance date: April 19, 7 p.m.

The Eighth Grade Chorus will whisk the audience away on a travelogue adventure around the world when it presents “The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr.” on April 19 in the . The show begins at 7 p.m. for the general public with no reserved seating or admission charge.

“The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr.” tells the story of a normal boy, Stanley Lambchop, who dreams of doing something amazing, something the world has never seen before. One night, Stanley is flattened like a pancake when a bulletin board falls on him in his sleep. He decides to make the most of being different and puts himself in a big envelope to travel the world as a human letter.

"Aladdin KIDS"

Woodside Fourth & Fifth Graders
Performance date: April 24

fourth- and fifth-graders will present their musical, “Aladdin KIDS,” based on the Disney animated movie. The performances will be April 24 at the following times and locations:

  • 9-9:45 a.m. in Woodside gym for fourth grade
  • 2:30-3:15 p.m. in Woodside gym for fifth grade
  • 5:45-6:30 p.m. at for fourth grade
  • 7-7:45 p.m. at Hamilton Fine Arts Center for fifth grade

In music and chorus classes, students learned their singing parts and collaborated to choreograph their dances and actions. Students with speaking roles memorized their lines at home and gave up recesses to rehearse their scenes. This musical’s interweaving of music, drama and dance exemplifies types of arts integration that takes place at various grade levels throughout the year at Woodside.
