Incumbent Lynn Kristensen Ousted from Hamilton School Board

Candidate who misspelled her own name on petition to recall Gov. Scott Walker from office loses to challenger by 2-to-1 margin.

Hamilton School Board member Lynn Kristensen, who came under fire for , lost handily in her bid for re-election Tuesday.

Final unofficial results show that challenger Brian Schneider defeated Kristensen by 3,295 to 1,573 — taking 68 percent of the votes cast in the race for the Menomonee Falls seat on the School Board.

Results show Schneider outpolling Kristensen, who has been on the board since 2006, in each of the six communities that make up the .

In Sussex, 71 percent of the votes cast were for Schneider; in Menomonee Falls, it was was 65 percent.

Kristensen was the target of criticism just prior to the election when it was learned that not only did she sign the recall petition, but that her name also was misspelled on it.

On the Walker recall petition Kristensen's name is listed as "Lynn Kirstense," however, her correct address in Menomonee Falls is listed.

It was later learned that she signed her name the same way on the Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) recall in April 2011 making critics even more upset about the alleged purposeful misspelling.

For her part, Kristensen insisted she did not intend to mislead anyone.

Why would I have put my correct address down if I was trying to be misleading? If it's spelled incorrectly, it's because of a data entry mistake," she told the Sussex Sun.

There's no way of knowing how much of an effect Kristensen signing the recall petition had on the outcome of Tuesday's race, but a couple of voters that Patch talked said it was a factor.

"I voted against her because she signed her name on the recall," said Susan, who wouldn't give her last name. "I'm not that well versed in the local elections, but I heard she signed it and that was enough to not vote for her."

Thankfully? Thankfully?! Have you people even done your research?! Because he has a brother in the district, he won't be able to vote on 95% of the votes that the school board will have to make! He legally cannot vote on anything from teacher salaries to work conditions to where money is appropriated. Good job on placing a do-nothing no-brain on the board of one of the best districts in the state.

Ummm, isn't Scott Walker under investigation for CRIMINAL activities? How is that not a representation of the worst politician in any public office?
Mark Hoppus April 06, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Luke- facts? You wouldn't know facts if they came up and hit you in the face. This whole election was a grade-A, 100% perfect example of Wisconsin's own McCarthyism. Lynn's record was spotless, so gutless people decided to launch a personal attack on her because of a recall petition. Also, because Brian Schneider had absolutely nothing to run on, he shut his mouth the whole time and let his lapdogs do all the work for him. You want to know the "facts?" Lynn didn't raise taxes on the community. At all. RESEARCH!
Mark Hoppus April 06, 2012 at 10:21 PM
Umm, can you explain to me how Lynn is "corrupt?" Scott Walker is under a criminal investigation, but Lynn dropping an N off her name means she's "corrupt?" You clearly don't know how to parse facts and learn the exact definition of simple terms like "corrupt."
Mark Hoppus April 06, 2012 at 10:23 PM
atthec44- your comment was not a generalization at all. It was clearly aimed at Lynn, as you claimed that by electing Lynn, taxes would increase. Seems like we a liar on our hands here! Just like how Lynn is such a "huge liar!" Look in the mirror man. Even with proof right in your face, you deny the facts. You are the reason that this state is moving backwards.
Mark Hoppus April 06, 2012 at 10:24 PM
Tom Barrett? Really? The candidate for governor is on the Sussex Patch site? Yea, ok. You're probably just a Tea Partier pretending to be him. The real Barrett is too smart to be commenting on message boards anyways.
Mark Hoppus April 06, 2012 at 10:27 PM
Luke- the fact that the two people who masterminded the whole smear campaign, Steve Welcenbach and Jeremy Halcomb, against Lynn do not send their kids to Hamilton schools is very relevant. What do two people who send their kids to private schools care about a school board election? Especially if taxes are actually going DOWN, as just proved earlier in the discussion? There's obviously a hidden agenda here. If they want to get more "fake" board members elected, the children of the district will suffer.
atthec44 April 06, 2012 at 11:02 PM
Mark, can you do me a favor and refresh my memory to remind me of when or where I said "that by electing Lynn, taxes would increase"?
highlightfilm April 07, 2012 at 01:16 AM
Mark, based on your reply you haven't a clue what you're talking about. BTW, considering the life lessons I'm teaching my children, I'm confident they will make better decisions than the one you are supporting here.
highlightfilm April 07, 2012 at 01:20 AM
Mark, please do everyone a favor and stop hurling personal insults.
Luke April 07, 2012 at 11:35 AM
Mark H.<<<Luke- facts? You wouldn't know facts if they came up and hit you in the face.... RESEARCH!>>> No, Mark H., the person responsible for the undoing of Lynn was Lynn. She broke the law and made herself untrustworthy. She then went public with a false story. It was one immoral act after another. If not for her own incompetence, she would have easily have won the election. Now no one trusts her BECAUSE OF the facts.
Luke April 07, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Mark H. commented<<< the fact that the two people who masterminded the whole smear campaign, Steve Welcenbach and Jeremy Halcomb, against Lynn do not send their kids to Hamilton schools is very relevant. What do two people who send their kids to private schools care about a school board election?>>> @Mark H In response to your question, all residents have the right (some would say "obligation") to discuss the issues and vote, whether or not they pay taxes or have children in the system. My kids have grown up, yet I still vote and pay $730 per month in taxes to live in my own home. In addition, everyone has the right to know. The two newspapers that reported on the issue had reporters that don't have kids in the schools as far as I know. They thought the issue was just as newsworthy, just as much as those you claim masterminded a smear campaign. But in this case, it was Lynn at the controls behind the curtain. She pulled the wrong levers by breaking the law repeatedly and telling lies repeatedly, and the results have simply been observed and made public. Interesting that no one is claiming false accusations were made. Instead, they are claiming that the damning ones were made public, by big, bad meanies. @MSo32 Do you know what "deceptive" means? Who has been deceptive? Lynn, or the people who told us the truth?
MSo32 April 07, 2012 at 01:15 PM
Luke and friends The only lies and deceit are being spun by MARK BELLING and the Three Stooges, coming to your home soon.
highlightfilm April 07, 2012 at 01:56 PM
Exactly what is Mark Belling spinning?
MSo32 April 07, 2012 at 06:00 PM
BREAKING NEWS........similar to how the KOCH BROTHERS are behind Scott Walker.........the general public just found out that PHIL RITTER is behind Brian Schneider, Steve Welcenbach and Jeremy Halcomb.....it's not nice to try and fool people....SHAME SHAME
Luke April 07, 2012 at 10:27 PM
MSo32<<<The only lies and deceit are being spun by MARK BELLING and the Three Stooges, coming to your home soon.>>> No,in fact there are no public figures or reporters anywhere on the planet that are saying that false claims were made against Lynn. The objection from those who are complaining is that the truth was made public.
MSo32 April 08, 2012 at 02:10 AM
Hey Luke and Highlight film You'll have a Pinnochio nose when you visit Phil Ritter's house with your crony "boys"!
Luke April 08, 2012 at 03:10 AM
Why bring the crony boys? They hog the beer.
highlightfilm April 08, 2012 at 03:17 PM
Who is Phil Ritter? And who are my crony boys? I really want to hear your answer smart guy!
highlightfilm April 08, 2012 at 03:31 PM
MSo32, you have NO clue who I am or what my positions are other than I don't support Lynn Kristensen. You and Mark Hopper are peas in a pod with your character assessments.
MSo32 April 09, 2012 at 05:22 PM
highlightfilm....I've got news for you....you don't have any character and I know exactly who you are
Steve ® April 09, 2012 at 09:34 PM
As I said before: These recall petitions are coming in mighty handy.
bill suhr April 10, 2012 at 01:08 AM

bill suhr April 10, 2012 at 01:09 AM
Ed Willing, You are absolutely correct. Keep using the truth against the liars. Good on ya' !!
Rachel Holley Sciortino April 10, 2012 at 01:24 AM
Luke, wait, who are you? Oh wait...you have a BUSINESS to protect so you can't expose your name lest you lose business due to your politics. Never mind!
Emily April 14, 2012 at 12:15 AM
liberal chicken? way to embarrass yourself here, sir. I did nothing. You're the one looking ridiculous now for calling me out on something I can't control. I too wish this could change, but we've all figured out how to comment anyway.
Emily April 14, 2012 at 12:18 AM
^funniest thing I've heard in a while, @highlightfilm.
Jenn April 15, 2012 at 01:44 PM
I believe in standing upa and being honest, own what you believe in. People should be able to believe what they want without fear of others lashing out at them. Above that, I believe that one should not make such harsh and rash decisions based on what they HEARD. Look for facts people, research things for yourself, instead of taking someone's word for it...SUSAN...unbelievable.
Catherine April 23, 2012 at 10:57 PM
She LIED and misrepresented herself as a conservative. She also has every right to sign any petition she wants, but when the constituancy finds out....WATCH OUT, they voted her out and that's THEIR RIGHT!
Catherine April 23, 2012 at 11:03 PM
I guess Jim Doyle running the state budget into the ground, and Democrats creating a business climate so caustic that many employers have left the state is not so ''extreme''.
