Art Student of the Month: Taylor Kessenich

This month, Hamilton High School sophomore Taylor Kessenich's art is in the spotlight.

Every month Sussex Patch highlights the artistic talents of one of Hamilton High School's creative students. This month, sophomore Taylor Kessenich is in the spotlight. Here's a statement about her art:

"I am Taylor Kessenich, a member of the class of 2015 at Sussex Hamilton High School.  Art is somewhat of a new interest to me.  I have only taken a few classes at the middle school and Stained Glass is the first Art class I have taken in high school.

Primarily, my strengths have always been in the subjects of math and science.  I was lucky though in this first semester to be able to get into stained glass.  I feel that when designing a piece, it draws on my strong math background when sketching it out and it symmetrically comes together as I produce the finished product.

Stained Glass has been fun for me to explore my creative side.  I can see doing this as a hobby well into the future and am currently considering taking Advanced Stained Glass.  It is amazing to me how each piece that I have produced develops through the design process and it is very satisfying to bring the project to its final form.  It has been great to take a path that I never thought I would and be able to succeed.  I would encourage any student that has had thoughts of trying something new to follow that path and they may be surprised on how they can express themselves in ways they never thought."
