Want to be a Village Trustee? Time is Running Out

Deadline to apply for vacant seat on Village Board is Monday.

If you want a taste of local politics, you may want to consider applying for a vacant seat on the Sussex Village Board.

But you'd better polish up that resume today.

That's because Monday is the deadline for residents to apply to fill the seat that had been held by Greg Goetz, who was elected village president in April.

The board is looking for someone who has a track record of leadership, a true interest in the community and will bring forth new and diverse viewpoints.

And while the term expires next April, the board wants to appoint someone who plans to run for the office in next spring's election.

Applicants will be interviewed by Trustee Pat Tetzlaff, who will recommend a candidate to the Village Board on May 24.
