Gov. Walker Not Challenging Recall Signatures

Friends of Scott Walker Campaign announced Monday that given the "impossible deadline" it had to challenge the 1 million signatures turned in, it would not challenge any.

The Friends of Scott Walker campaign will not challenge the signatures turned in to recall Gov. Scott Walker.

The campaign is filing paperwork with the Government Accountability Board on Monday, but is apparently not challenging the signatures, according to a report by WISN TV.

"We have essentially been given an impossible deadline," campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews told WISN 12.

The campaign needed to review more than 152,000 pages of recall petitions, and while it was given a 20-day exension, a judge denied the request for two more weeks. The campaign filed legal documents Monday with the Government Acountability Board

In a release, the Friends of Scott Walker campaign said "multiple stories have surfaced which point to incidences of fraud and abuse in the recall process," noting examples from the Republican Party of Wisconsin of addresses that are vacant lots and names such as "Donald Duck" on the petitions.

With the campaign bowing out, that "leaves only a review by state elections officials standing between the Republican governor" and recall, reports the Journal Sentinel.

The campaign's filing with the GAB states it found problems with 10 to 20 percent of 350,000 reviewed signatures, the JS reports, which is "consistent with the Journal Sentinel's own review of the petitions."

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin took a large degree of satisfaction from the announcement.

"After months of bellyaching, obfuscation and hysterical claims by his Tea Party allies, Scott Walker is now acknowledging his total failure in producing credible evidence that would stop his recall," said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in a release.

@Tim Scott Meanwhile, here is WI, we have Walker who LIES continuously--and fans like you who do his dirty work of demeaning workers!! Brett Hulsey ‏ @BrettHulseyWI “@DefeatVos: Scott Walker's fraud on the people of Wisconsin: bit.ly/ySsVco via @cog_dis | #wiunion” We were fooled once, not twice http://cognidissidence.blogspot.com/2012/03/falsehood-wrapped-in-lie-wrapped-in.html?spref=tw! Sunday, March 4, 2012 A Falsehood Wrapped In A Lie Wrapped In Deceit Jud Loundsbury of Uppity Wisconsin found some amazing footage of Scott Walker interviewing with the Oshkosh Northwestern's editorial board. A key part of that footage includes this exchange: Editorial Board Member: Before, we were talking about state employees contributing to their plan, paying their share of the pension plan. Collective bargaining come into that? Walker: Yep (nodding yes) Editorial Board Member: How do you get that negotiated and accepted by the state employee unions? Walker: You still have to negotiate it. I did that at the county as well. Loundsbury also edited the hour-long video to this:.....

@Tim Scott--- the fact you call Firefighters "thugs" shows your immature bias & you are not to be taken seriously or have anything meaningful to add to the conversation. Your rants are nonsensical.

From transcript of prank Koch-Walker conversation: "Walker: And my sense is, hell, I'll talk to them. If they want to yell at me for an hour, you know. I'm used to that, I can deal with that. But I'm not negotiating."

Walker is not challenging, however he DID ask the GAB to accept voter signature challenges from a Texas group (True the Vote) with a history of intimidation and voter suppression. Varify the Recall is a joint project between True the Vote and Wisconsin Tea Party groups. True the Votes parent group is the King Street Patriots – a hateful and extremely racist bunch that harasses and intimidates those who try to get the vote out. This is who Walker chose to verify signatures – extreme hateful and racist tea partiers. Is this what Wisconsin wants? Don’t believe me? Do a simple search. Google “King Street Patriots and Scott Walker”. Or maybe try “King Street Patriots and threatening email” for some ugly truth. Here's what you will find: “You liberial scumbags should be hung by the neck in public ! We are on to your voter fraud. Keep it up you M___ER F___ERS and you will soon be put down for a long dirt nap! Your nothing but a bunch of white guilt ridden a__holes, NI__ERS and greasy mexican sp_cs, fraudulent Marxist pigs, and American hating A-holes. The WAR is comming and we are going to dispose of each and every one of you while we take OUR (White) nation back.” http://www.prwatch.org/news/2012/02/11322/walker-using-out-state-tea-party-group-indirectly-challenge-recall

Walker is surrounded by shady dishonest people and groups! As was much discussed this week, the Walker Administration indicated on Tuesday that it would decline to challenge any of the recall campaign signatures,...... This could not have been welcome news to Texas (where else)- based Tea Party organization True the Vote, which just the day before had published the findings of its “review” of the recall documents, which concluded, in brazen contradiction of any scientific standard, that the recall effort had failed to meet the minimum number of signatures required to trigger an election. Nor was it encouraging news for our friends from Texas when, as reported here, McFarland-based public relations firm PF-Data immediately published a “review of the review,” finding the True the Vote study to be rife with error and deliberate misinformation..... http://www.defendwisconsin.org/2012/03/02/abandoned-by-governor-walker-tea-party-groups-soldier-on-in-fight-against-recall/
